The final semester project, the Architecture Design Project is based on the theme of architecture with a social impact and the resolution and integration of technology, environment and cultural context in architectural design.
Progressing from the urban issues of urban street environment, the design studio extends students development of architectural position and design brief in proposing the strategy to improving conditions of the urban landscape focused on strengthening and empowering people’s appreciation of own culture and arts. Located in an urban area, students are to further develop the assigned site, into a place of interaction and connection of people, place, time and culture.

Project 2: Culture Hub : Pitch Back
The project calls designing a place wherein it extends the unique identity and likewise serve as a platform to encourage cultural exchange between people. Project aims to create architecture that promotes culture in a more current and engaging approach. Strongly promotes a dialogue between people, activity, moment and place. Hence, becomes a mean of educating people about the country’s culture, tradition and way of life.
The objectives for this assignment are as follows:
- To create an architectural space that promotes interaction and cultural exchange between people, not just for locals to educate visitors about their culture but likewise to remind them appreciate their own.
- To design spaces that will become a platform for the public to use, for viewing, performing, exhibition, training and other culturally related activities.
- To design spaces that will conform to the current cultural trends and activities, whether physical, social and educational centered. A unique approach that reflects creativity, diversity and identity.
- To function as a place to host both daytime and nocturnal activities
- To design a place that is highly permeable and engaging to pedestrians and passersby.
- To align design with the current development on site and within its vicinity.
- To respect and positively affect site and neighboring places with its highly engaging design.
- To incorporate an element of sustainability and green in design, educating people about the importance of healthy living and environment.
- Design should comply with pertinent guidelines and regulations. Compliance with buildability, safety and building requirements.
- A form design that will create a sense of ‘recall’ for the place.
As for my culture hub, the Pitch Back, a MUSIC COLLABORATION AND LEANING CENTRE which aims to create a platform for buskes all around, to encourage the art that livens the city with music, connecting the disconnectivity of Jalan Alor and the Alor backscpace. Blurring the old and new, setting unity towards the street and the people.
